Dr. Verne L. Adams was born on September 16, 1912 in Sunnyside, Washington. He received his medical degree from the University of Oregon in 1939 and interned at Good Samaritan Hospital, Portland, Oregon from 1939-40. He practiced in Oregon before coming to Hawaii in the 1960's. He was at Pahala, Hawaii in 1966. In 1977 he moved to Johnson Memorial Hospital, Smithfield, North Carolina. On retirement in 1981, he returned to Hawaii and resided in Captain Cook.
Dr. Adams was a member of the American Medical Association, Hawaii Medical Association, Hawaii County Medical Society (president 1971), American Academy of General Practice, Hawaii Academy of Family Physicians, American Society of Abdominal Surgeons, Lions International, Shriners and Elks International.
Dr. Adams and his wife, Wilma Mae, were the parents of four children: Dean Lewis, Katherine Lee, Patrick Verne and Lisa Kay. Dr. Adams died on December 1, 1990.
