Dr. Herbert Aldendorff was born in Berlin, Germany, on October 5, 1911. He received his medical degree from the University of Basel, Basel, Switzerland, in 1937. He interned at Stamford Hospital, Stamford, Connecticut, from 1939-40. He was a psychiatry resident at Worcester State Hospital, and Albany Hospital, New York, from 1941-42. He was an Instructor at Albany Medical College in 1942-43. He was Director of Child Guidance, Albany Hospital, 1942-43. He practiced psychiatry in New York City and in 1973 was Professor at the Albert Einstein Medical College, New York. He came to Hawaii in the early 1970's and was a Hawaii State Mental Health Division psychiatrist. Dr. Aldendorff was Acting Hospital Administrator at the State Hospital in Kaneohe in 1975.
Dr. Aldendorff was divorced and had one son, Howard. He died on September 24, 2003.
