Dr. Dean R. Archer was born on February 18, 1922 in Omaha, Nebraska. He received his medical degree from the University of Nebraska Medical School in 1947 and interned at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Washington, D.C. He received his psychiatric training with the Veterans Administration and was at the Arizona State Hospital for two years. He came to Hawaii in 1953 to join the staff of the Hawaii Territorial Hospital. In 1954 he joined with several other psychiatrists to form The Psychiatric Group in Honolulu. Later in 1954 he joined the U.S. Public Health Service and received training for an assignment in Japan. He was in California from the 1960s through the 1980s.
Dr. Archer was a member of the American Psychiatric Association, American Medical Association, Hawaii Medical Association and the Honolulu County Medical Society.
Dr. Archer died on January 9, 2005 in San Diego, California.
