GROVE BALDWIN


Dr. Grove Baldwin was born in 1894 and received his medical degree from Creighton University, Omaha, Nebraska, in 1917. He took post-graduate training in eye, ear, nose and throat at the Eye & Ear Infirmary of New York City, Cornell University, and Roosevelt Hospital, New York. He practiced EENT in Omaha and served for three years in the U.S. Navy. He was attending physician at Seton Hospital, New York City. He came to Hawaii in 1922 and was in practice with Dr. Osorio in Hilo, Hawaii. In 1923 he opened his own office for the practice of EENT in Hilo. By 1931 he was listed as practicing in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. In 1938 he was in Omaha and later in the CCC, Merrill, Oregon. In 1940 he was in Redding, California, 1942 in Pasadena, California and in 1950 he was listed as a medical officer in the U.S. Army.

Dr. Baldwin was a member of the American Medical Association and the Hawaii Territorial Medical Association. He was one of the organizers of a society for physicians on the island of Hawaii and was present at the beginning of Hilo Memorial Hospital. He was an active member of the American Legion, Commander of the Hilo Post No. 3; he was also active in the BPOE, No. 759.
